Below is a quick overview of some Fundamentals. Below are some less-formal FAQs.

The Bible
We believe that the Holy Bible, as originally written, was verbally inspired and the product of Spirit controlled men, and therefore is the only infallible rule for all human conduct, creeds and opinions.

II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:19-21

Jesus
Jesus was not just a 'great man' or an important teacher. He is the only begotten Son of God. He was iraculously born of a virgin, He was both fully man and fully God. He is co-eternal with the father, as the second person of the trinity. We believe that he died on the cross, was buried, and was ressurrected on the third day.

John 1:1,2; I John 5:20; Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:26-38

Mankind
We believe that mankind fell with Adam, so everyone is essentially born into bondage of sin. We cannot save ourselves -- not by good behavior, or feeling spiritual, or force of will. Despite our unworthiness, God loves each of us and wants us to be saved.

Romans 5:12, Romans 3:23; John 3:16

Salvation by Grace Alone
We believe that God saves whom he will by His grace. It is not our "goodness" or good deeds which save us. Man cannot earn or accomplish salvation by any work he might do. Only faith in Jesus Christ saves.

Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 10:13; John 14:6;

Baptism by Immersion
We believe that baptism is a very important public act of obedience for a believer. It is our identification with, and willing submission to Christ. We further believe that the examples given in Scripture and the imagry of death, burial and ressurection used by Paul in Romans call for immersion

Matthew 28:19; John 3:23; Acts 8:39; Romans 6:3-5

Non-doctrinal Practices
There are subtle differences between churches which are otherwise agreed on the fundamentals of the faith. Below are a few common questions about our congregation and where we are today on a few issues.

Where do you stand on the King James Version of the Bible?
A: Many of our members use and prefer the KJV, but it is not a requirement.

Where do you stand on Contemporary Christian Music in the worship service?
A:
We feel that worship through music needs to be focused on praising the Lord. Since much of CCM is geared towards pleasing the listener, we feel CCM in the worship service is less honoring to God than traditional hymns. This may make our worship services seem more traditional.

Are your services Traditional or Contemporary?
A:
We have a more informal family atmosphere, so our services may feel less formal than what some people think of a 'traditional' service. We may not fit into what people think of as 'contemporary.' Rather than fussing over style, we strive to keep our hearts and minds focused on Him.

Where do you stand on Spiritual Gifts?
A:
We recognize and appreciate that the Holy Spirit endows each believer with one or more spiritual gifts (1 Cor 14:5-6, 1 Cor 14:21-23), and encourage members to use their gifts in service to the Lord. Scripture tells us that spiritual fruit is evidence of salvation, but we do not hold that specific gifts need to be exhibited to prove the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The gifts referred to as sign gifts, ceased once the canon of scripture had been completed. (I Cor 13:8-10)

Do I have to be a member to take Communion at LBC?
A: No. We hold to a "close" communion, not a "closed" communion. As long as you are a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, and baptised in a church of like faith and practice, you are a fellow brother or sister in Christ and invited to share the Lord's Table with us. We typically share the Lord's Table on the first Sunday of each month. It can vary, so if you're interested in communion services, call or email us to confirm when.
