Text:John 3; Ephesians 2
Last week, I mentioned that the love of God is very conditional to the lost world. Let me explain a little deeper and then may the Lord encourage our hearts in praise to the Son for the life He gives. First, when each one of us is born into this world, we are enemies of God, Romans 5:10. Every one of us are by nature against the Lord and of the devil. We are then damned to eternal punishment in hell and can do nothing on our own to escape this judgement. In this natural state, I am against God and God is against me. My sinful nature separates us and keeps me from enjoying His love both now and for eternity. However, God loved me so much that he gave Himself, Jesus Christ, to pay for my sins. This is the condition. I must come to the Father through Jesus Christ, John 14:6. When I turned to Christ in repentance many years ago, He saved my soul and made me His child. I now have God’s unconditional love because of the precious blood of Christ.
There was a spiritual leader in Israel that questions Christ on this very matter, John 3. Nicodemus asked Christ about His ability to do things only God can do. Christ then tells him how to get to heaven. One must be born of the flesh and then the spirit. One must come to Christ alone and be reborn in the spirit. He goes on to tell Nicodemus how this is possible. Christ paid the debt on the cross, Romans 10:13. Faith in Christ alone will free us from the eternal punishment of Hell that rest upon each one of us naturally. What is your story of faith in Christ? Turn to Him today if you have not already done so.
Now, once I received the gift of salvation, Christ quickened me. Jesus gave me life and life more abundantly, John 10:10. God loves His children so much that He gives us a home in heaven and a heavenly place to sit, John 14:1-4. If that is not enough, God will also show us His exceeding kindness for all of eternity, Rev. 7:17; 21:4. We will live in our redeemed bodies for all of eternity with our Lord and Savior. What a great love. What a good, good Father we have through our Lord. What is the story of your journey with the Lord? Are you living in His goodness today?
