Text:II Peter 2:18-ff.
WAKE UP CHURCH! I cannot help to think that this is what the Lord is screaming to the church. We have been given an opportunity to rise up and hold the standard high for all to see. We will get back to this momentarily.
Today we are continuing on with the idea of false prophets and in light of everything that is happening in our country, we must be active, prepared, and ready for whatever happens. We know that in this time, the devil is trying his best to tear apart the church and destroy families. Men, Wake up and lead. Ladies, be strong and selfless. Children, walk in the path of righteousness that has been set before you. I believe this passage in II Peter warns us that the church will be filled with people that really do not walk in the Spirit. It will become filled with people that appear to have faith but in the end do not and may never have had it. It gives the idea that there are some who have escaped the corruption of the world. This is not a statement of faith at all. Living truth is beneficial no matter if someone knows the Lord or not. The principles never change. However, they get entangled and overcome by the world. The Bible talks of a great falling away and we must be ready. We must be on guard and strong in the faith. What are you doing to build community around you? What are you doing to make sure faith is passed on and contagious to those you rub shoulders with?
We overcome this work purely because our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has overcome this world. We walk in the Spirit, I John 2:15-17. We overcome by living faith, I John 5:4, 5; Rev. 12:10, 11. Both of these take strength and making a choice. May the Lord always be our choice and may we choose today. Choose while faith is strong. Choose while we have time and fellowship. Choose while we have opportunity. Whether we like this present administration or not, the heart of the king is moved by God almighty. Never relent to evil, never give in, and always press into the battle that rages heavy each and every day. The Lord will not forsake His own and His name will be glorified. May the church of God wake up and rise in the face of wickedness!
