Sunday Adventure – A Journey Of Faith

Text:Matthew 14:22

Today we begin our Sunday Adventure as we journey through faith. Now to begin with and to understand the whole journey, we must understand what faith is. This seems to be an elusive concept to most. We call it biblical obedience but by the very definition of the word, faith is the credence of conviction of Truth. This may not make it clear but stick with us over the next five weeks and we will see what the Lord will bring to light.

We all know verses about faith and how important it is, Heb 11:6; Matthew 21:22. Without Faith it is truly impossible to please the Lord. Therefore, we should be people of faith. I believe if you look at the church today as a whole, there is very little faith. Again, the last 5 years proves this. When our world was changed the church as a whole went right along with the world and it’s system instead of living by faith. Many continue to still live in fear instead of faith today.

In Matthew 14 we see the Lord tells His disciples to go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee and He would meet them there. They obey and get into the ship. All is good until in the middle of the night, a storm blows up and they are caught in it. Many times this is all it takes for us to forget about faith and live by fear. We may even ask the Lord why. We are just trying to serve our Savior and the storms rage and the winds blow. This is when faith comes in and we hang on and continue to love and serve the Lord no matter how bad the storm is.

Jesus walks out to the disciples on the water which must have been pretty cool. Peter yells out that if this really was Christ to let him walk out to meet Him. Well, Christ says come and Peter starts to walk on water. He knew enough to step out but what happens next? Peter looks at the storm and takes his eyes off the Lord. Fear is the culprit again and causes Peter to start to sink. Fear cripples us and gets us to forget the Lord. Fear gets us to put our trust in the world instead of in the Lord. No mater the storm or what is raging around us, we must keep our eyes on the Lord. We must obey at all cost and stand on Truth. This is faith in action.
